The breakdown

1. The track is the clock. The kit reads the beat grid from your own track: every beat, bar line and phrase. For Proof that is 135 beats a minute, fit from 268 clear hits in the song itself. Nothing is timed by hand.
2. The stretch is whole bars. It proposes a stretch that starts on a phrase and ends on a bar line. Start a phrase before the hook and the hook arrives about a third of the way in, under the biggest picture moment.
3. Every cut and contact lands on the beat. Big changes on bar lines, slams and stamps on the beat, long moves arriving on the next bar. In Proof each event lands like a shutter on the beat, and the stamp with the gap lands one beat later.
4. Every sound is set against the music. Each effect lands with its loudest moment on its event, at a level set against the track right there: stamps ride over it, whooshes sit under it.
5. The mix is mastered for phones. The track sits as the bed and the whole mix is mastered to minus 14 LUFS with a minus 1.5 dBTP ceiling, loud and clean on a phone speaker.
6. The audit checks it before you post. Loudness, any sound a hair off a drum hit where it would flam, and every picture change that misses the grid.
